DJ style: Psy-trance

Best known for: “‘Great Spirit’, ‘Free Tibet’, ‘Chakra’, ‘The Tribe’.”

Psy-trance duo Vini Vici have had many career highs over the last few years: working with artists like Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Steve Aoki and KSHMR, playing the main stage at Tomorrowland, EDC, Ultra and Dreamstate, and being the first psy-trance act to perform at Lollapalooza. But 2023 was particularly special as the pair celebrated 10 years of Vini Vici by embarking on a huge, venue-busting global tour: “We managed to take our music to new ears and places around the world — and we have much more coming up, so stay tuned!”

On the release front, Vini Vici devoted much of the year to producing a series of mega-sized psy-trance groovers. Their electro-bouncer ‘Drink & Shout’ with Prezioso and Shibui was big, while their ‘renegade master’ re-work with Gabry Ponte, ‘Damage’ did, well, damage, everywhere it was dropped. 2023 was all about the collaborations for Vini Vici, including ‘Distorted Reality’ with Reinier Zonneveld, ‘When We Come Alive’ with Armin van Buuren and ALBA, ‘Wild’ with Steve Aoki, and ‘The Race’ with Timmy Trumpet and Sub Zero Project, a tune with one of the biggest breakdowns of 2023.

Hero of 2023: Fred again..

Fave tune of 2023: ”Fred again.. x Swedish House Mafia 'Turn On The Lights again.. (feat. Future)'”

What was the most exciting tech development of 2023, and why? “The AI world has come into our life, it may not be connected directly to our music yet, but it gives artists another way to view technology and to be inspired and affect the music scene.”

Rising star DJ/producer of 2023: “Terra.”

What gives you hope for 2024? “We are usually very optimistic people and we always have hope. With everything that is happening in the world, climate change, division of people and so on, we try to stay optimistic and bring happiness to people with our music.”
