Pop purveyors seem to be a signature Scandinavian export these days, and Martin Tungevåg, aka Tungevaag, is proof that these stars have staying power, too. After rising eight spots in last year’s Top 100 DJs poll, the Grammy-nominated Norwegian producer teamed up with Timmy Trumpet to release ‘La Danse’ as his parting gift to 2022 — and he’s been rewarded by rising another eight places this year. The energetic cut, which arrived via Spinnin’ Records in December, includes soaring vocals, bi-lingual lyrics, and an invigorating hardstyle breakdown. That track went on to ignite festival fields in the months ahead, and even helped Tungevaag surpass another impressive milestone — he crossed seven billion streams worldwide. Following an exciting performance at this year’s Tomorrowland festival, his numbers continue to climb higher than even the mountaintops in his Alesund hometown. When asked what he’s been up to these past 12 months, his answer is simple: “Making music I love.”
