World's first vinyl festival returns this year

Haarlem Vinyl Festival, dubbed as the "world’s first multi-day vinyl festival", will make its return this year. 

Scheduled to take place 27th to 29th September in the Dutch city of Haarlem, just 20 minutes outside of Amsterdam, the three-day event is set to welcome at least 25,000 attendees for its second edition, after its first outing in 2023.

Hosted at Haarlem’s PHIL and Patronaat venues, the event spans an immersive program. Attendees can expect deep dives into every facet of vinyl culture, covering production, manufacturing, marketing, art, design, history, and beyond.

The event will also feature a diverse lineup of discussions, workshops, and presentations aimed at exploring the enduring appeal of vinyl in the digital age.

The Haarlem Vinyl Festival will also host the Making Vinyl conference, guided tours at Europe’s largest pressing plant Record Industry, and a large, freely accessible open-air record fair in collaboration with Record Planet. Additionally, the festival will introduce a new independent label market at PHIL this year.

Confirmed artists set to perform at the event include Anastasia Kristensen, Altin Gün, Cassy, Colin Benders, Douglas Firs, Shakedown Tim & the Rhythm Revue, Willem, and many more.

Last year, UK vinyl sales increased for the 16th consecutive year, with over 5.9 million units sold in 2023. The US has experienced a similar trend trend, with vinyl sales increasing by 21.7% in the country during the first half of 2023.

Last month, it was revealed that over 39% of vinyl records sold in the UK last year were independently released, according to new analysis shared by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI).
