5 DANCE MUSIC DJS INSPIRED BY LATIN CULTURE

Submit your Latin mixes to win a Fiesta Nights DJ residency

La Tasca’s Fiesta Nights DJ competition is in full swing! You have been submitting your latin-inspired mixes for a chance to be featured on this site and win a Fiesta Nights DJ residency.

But some of you may be thinking that only ‘Latin house’ DJs can apply? Well, fear not. This is an open contest to those who want to submit a mix that is inspired by Latin music, as a large range of electronic music is.

To get you in the mood we have put together 5 very different dance music artists who take their inspiration from Latin culture.

Do you have something in common with them? If so, you should submit your 20 minute mix here.

LUCIANO
The Cadenza boss and tech house don stays close to his Latin roots without ever sacrificing his underground aesthetic.

DJ MARKY
The ‘tornado’ from Sao Paulo is a drum & bass master - regularly smashing floors from London to Rio. Yet his sets never verge too far from the Latin sounds of his homeland.

GILLES PETERSON
Don’t think you have to be of Latin heritage to get involved in the party. London-based DJ and radio presenter Peterson is famed for his love of world music - most particularly latin and jazz fusions.

MASTERS AT WORK
Louie Vega and Kenny Dope are synonymous with Latin house, and as Masters at Work they spearheaded the development of the genre as a major force in the ’90s.

STEVE DA CONGA
Steve Da Conga made his name in the ’90s as resident at the famous Renaissance club nights at The Cross in London. His sound is heavily influenced by Latin sounds, and he is also a judge in this competition, so get mixing and aim to impress!
