CHATTIN' BREEZE: FOR FESTIVAL

We look towards FOR Festival...

THURSDAY 19TH – SUNDAY 22ND JUNE
HVAR, CROATIA
LINE UP: NENEH CHERRY, HAIM, ERLEND ØYE, STORM QUEEN, EROL ALKAN, KLAXONS, TENSNAKE, FACTORY FLOOR, MAURICE FULTON, PSYCHEMAGIK, BOK BOK, TIGER & WOODS, DANIEL WANG, MOVEMENT, BAIO, KELELA & MORE...

We thought about coming up with a semi-amusing 'Chattin' Breeze' angle for FOR Festival — (puts on reverent voice) 'FOR what you are about to receive,' and all that — but decided a description of the event would be entertaining enough. Run by the team behind Modular Records — the Australian label known for championing indie/dance/pop talent such as Cut Copy, The Klaxons and The Avalanches — FOR, now in its second year, is the coolest festival on Hvar, one of Croatia's most stunning islands. Ultra made its debut here last summer, but this is the one that's got Europeans with a flavour for decent house, techno and alt. pop most interested. Erol Alkan, Bok Bok and Tensnake are just some who'll bring indigo sounds to the island, whereas the live acts like Neneh Cherry, Klaxons and new Modular signing Movement take to the stage after dinner. So if that takes your fancy, this festival is FOR you (sorry, couldn't resist!).

WE ASKED THE FOR CREW FOR THEIR MISTY-EYED MEMORIES...

ADAM BROOKS (MODULAR)
“Arriving on the scene at the first-ever FOR festival, I was led by tugboat to the private island where the nighttime activities take place, to take a look around. Four minutes later, I was in possession of a giant milk-jug of cocktail, eight straws protruding from it like an inverted alco-octopus. Eight minutes later I was in the sea while Canyons DJ’d behind me. Not a bad start to a classy weekend.”

RYAN (CANYONS)
"Dancing all night on a little island to excellent music coming from one stage only, then maybe you're nude swimming, watching the sunrise before finding yourself on a boat talking with Baldelli about Anne Clark. Or you're walking up to the fort that overlooks the whole town and coast, staring at objects from the 16th century and then eating just caught seafood while enjoying a glass of wine."

DR DUNKS
“FOR is a real class boutique festival. I had so much fun there. The island, the people, the food and especially the organisers. You’re really looked after there. It was just its first year, but seemed like it all went off without a hitch. Pro. It was a blast playing with my friends on that little island into the sunrise. Then cooling out on the beach the following day while Danielle Baldelli provided the sun tanning soundtrack for the afternoon. Good times and highly recommended.”
