DJ MAG WEEKLY PODCAST: SHIBA SAN

Free mix + Shiba's top hip-hop hits

Well-known producer and DJ Shiba San, has risen to global dance fame thanks to a croft stellar production and his much-hyped 2014 LP, 'All About Booty'. Something you might not know is that Shiba's background is based firmly in hip-hop, with the producer spinning '90s vinyl by the likes of Nas, Gang Starr and — of course — Notorious B.I.G, from an early age.

In the wake of his stellar new podcast for DJ Mag, which you can stream in full below or download via our soundcloud, we asked Shiba San the top five hip-hop jams he still loves to spin.

Gang Starr 'Who's Gonna Take The Weight'
“This track brought a revolution to scratching. It is the one that made me like Gang Starr and DJ Premier”

Nas 'Nas Is Like'
“One of the best rappers, with DJ Premier — one of the best producers. This track stays an essential.”

Das Efx 'They Want Fx'
“New style of rap. This band did not last long, but it caused a small revolution.”

Brand Nubian 'Punks Jump Up To Get Beat Down'
“Probably one of the tracks I've played the most — jazzy soul.”

Notorious B.I.G 'Hypnotize me'
“One of the best rappers of all time. I've spent hours and hours scratching on this beat and never got tired of it.”
