EDM Malaysia

Showcasing the best of Malaysia’s underground

EDM Malaysia’s Dancepolitik premiered on December 6th, 2014 at The Rabbit Hole, Changkat. Dancepolitik is a brand new series of events, where Electronic Dance Music culture is treated to the best of Malaysia’s underground scene, with the signature sounds of DJ Kuma (Malaysia) and Shaun Nocturnals all the way from Singapore. Old and new music lovers who stayed through the night left The Rabbit Hole with a newfound respect for the genres. Boasting partnerships with Bad Labs, Zalora, The Cook Cyberjaya, and everyone’s private driver, Uber KL, this was just the beginning of EDMMY’s showcase of Malaysia’s underground.

After a warm-up set by Seagog (EDMMY mix contest winner), who played a bit of house and more commercial tunes, the headlining DJs Shaun Nocturnals and Kuma brought their A-game by taking punters through a musical journey of deep, tech, and minimal house. DJ Kuma ended the night with a bang, going full-on techno as drunken revellers made the best of cheap drinks to dance longer and harder. While there were more people coming in for cheap drinks than the music, we were quite surprised at the number of impromptu dance-offs happening throughout the night; we’re guessing good music, plus free flow drinks, equals a very good time!
