HACKNEY COUNCIL CONFRONTS CRITICISM OVER LICENSING PROPOSALS

Strict laws set to limit late-night venues in London's East.

Hackney councillor Emma Plouviez has issued a statement in response to the council's draft licensing policy for 2016.

According to the Hackney Council's proposed changes, a "borough-wide hours" policy will put all license applications that stretch beyond midnight under harsh observation.

Plouviez stated that it was the council's job to strike a "balance between the rights of residents and the rights of businesses," adding that the number of late-night venues in Dalston and Shoreditch is reaching "saturation point".

A website called We Love Hackney has been set up to "help save Hackney's nightlife" and DJ Mag has launched our own Save Our Clubs campaign which you can read more about here.
