LISTEN BACK TO DAVID GUETTA'S 'INFLUENCES' ESSENTIAL MIX

Every track played was pre-2000...

Known as a purveyor of big room EDM and commercial pop, David Guetta is the latest DJ to spin on BBC Radio 1's much coveted Essential Mix.

Programmed by everyone from Bicep to Caribou, BBC Radio 1's Essential Mix has long been reserved for those of the house and techno persuasion, with hardly a whiff of EDM in sight. Guetta has (wisely) thrown a curveball with his mix, delivering two hours of house music from his DJ infancy in the early '90s.

"This is what I used to play when I first started to DJ. It brought me back to some amazing memories from the time when I started playing house music in 1988 until now. A lot has changed, but my heart is still the same, and the music is still real," said Guetta.
