PREMIERE: CASPA 'SUBMISSION'

Stream dubstep don Caspa's return to the dark side...

With his new string of forthcoming releases and huge 27-date North American tour, Caspa is going back to his roots with a dark, deep yet angry sound that moves away from the massive arenas and back to the basements and dim-lit rooms that the sound was born in.

The American scene is evolving and Caspa's label Dub Police (along with nights such as Reconstrvct and Sub.Mission, after which 'Submission' is named) are fronting that evolution, building on the original dubstep sound that they are so well known for.

Caspa and The Others are leading the charge with their new releases, and Dub Police's music is slipping back into the sets of underground tastemakers such as Youngsta, N-Type, DJ Chefal and Hatcha — which makes new music from Caspa a very exciting thing indeed.

Caspa had this to say about the track he's given us and his forthcoming new album:

"Submission is taken from my upcoming album '500', which is being released in episodes. A major inspiration for me to create this unique album concept was the amount of bullshit music out there. There’s a lack of effort and positivity about the genre. I really wanted to take it back to its roots, which were small dark basements with big sound systems, and to write a soundtrack that would fit my vision of this.

"Dubstep has had a lot of negative press this year and is taking a lot of stick, so I think it’s the perfect time to release this album, this is something that needs to happen right now. There's no one in our scene that's making music like me and I'm very confident about what I'm making and where I'm taking it.

"If '500' was a movie, this is what the soundtrack would be — dark, cinematic, emotional and filthy. This is the best bit of music I've ever written, and I feel like the Caspa fans have been waiting a long time for this. I've never felt more content writing music.

"I've been working on some cool collaborations for this album. I’ve got a tune featuring Beenie Man, Klashnekoff and MC $pyda, and trust me, this is something that you're not gonna be able to hear on daytime radio. It's uncompromising. Also I've got a collaboration with Emalkay, which has been a long time coming, entitled 'Tomorrow' — it's smashing it up right now, and will be released on this label very soon.

"I have a 27-date North American tour starting in November, and the concept is to play in rooms with a maximum capacity of 500, bringing my own soundsystem to every show and making affordable tickets available for the fans. I wanted this tour to be simply about the music and the vibes, nothing else. No gas canisters or gimmicks, just beats, bass and energy.

"I'm looking forward to the whole tour, especially cities I've never played before. I feel it's the right time to do something like this in North America and I feel this is what's needed right now, there's too much monotonous crap and DJs doing the same overpriced shows, playing music that every other DJ is playing. The 500 tour will be totally different – you’ll have to wait and see."
