WIN VIP TICKETS TO BREAKSPOLL NEXT WEEKEND

More names added to line-up for Manchester breakbeat awards

Breakspoll has added some more top breakbeat names to the line-up for the awards party next weekend (Saturday 7th March) at Sound Control in Manchester.

The Plump DJs (pictured above) are going to be throwing down a breakbeat classics set — something worth the Breakspoll admission price alone.

Andy Gardner and Lee Rous, signed to Finger Lickin’ Records for the first part of the noughties, were pretty much the biggest name in breaks before the backlash began and they shifted sideways into electro, disco and house.

The Plumps will be sure to drop tracks like ‘Get Kinky’, ‘Electric Disco’, ‘Mad Cow’, ‘Torque Of The Devil’ (below), ‘Doppler’, ‘Big Groovy Fucker’ and ‘Disco Unusual’ — some of the finest breakbeat tunes of the past 15 years.

Breakspoll is also the last chance to catch a set by Elite Force, aka Simon Shackleton, before he closes that chapter of his music career. Read the reasons behind Shack’s decision to leave behind the Elite Force project here

With A-Skillz, Breaksjunky, JFB, Marten Horger, RadioKillaz, The Autobots, Slamboree, Wes Smith and Vinyl Junkie vs Sanxion also on the line-up, this is a seriously essential breakbeat party – and breakbeat is back, haven’t you heard?

Breakspoll organisers also have some awards to dish out, after 110,00 breakbeat fans worldwide voted for their favourite acts, tracks and labels. See all the nominations here

Tickets for Breakspoll have nearly sold out, but DJ Mag has two pairs to give away — VIP tickets too, no less.
