The South London-based DJ, producer and broadcasting luminary keeps the production wheel turning at lightning speed with a new, sun-tinged house heater, landing via her &Friends imprint. Propelled by the same rapturous piano riffs that made her 2023 single ‘Feels Darker’ a record bag requisite, and held together by the kind of crystalline synthwork and crisp, pulsing percussion you’d expect from a veteran of the game, ‘Last Minute Dreamer’ is piano house distilled into its purest form.
Speaking on the single, Monki, who is the host of Defected’s new ‘Moments In Music’ podcast, shared: “Super excited to get this one out. A big, euphoric piano ready for the summer. I hope it gets to soundtrack a few people’s sunsets and sunrises this year.”
‘Last Minute Dreamer’ follows a string of killer recent releases on the artist’s &Friends label, including Charlie Boon’s January single, ‘Do It Like This’, and ‘Feels Darker (Feel It)’ remixes from the likes of Kitty Amor and enigmatic rising producer, GHSTGHSTGHST.
Founded in 2020, &Friends has blossomed into a breeding ground for some of the most irresistible new sounds on the circuit, and was celebrated for its efforts with a Best Breakthrough Label nomination at DJ Mag’s Best of British Awards 2023. Check out the full list of nominees and winners here.
