Cologne drum & bass producer War dives into dubstep for Bristol’s Utopia Music
Cologne DJ and producer War will release a new EP, ‘Edena’, via Bristol label Utopia Music this month. Listen to ‘Beefy’ below.
In a first for the artist and the label, both of which have become known for their slick drum & bass releases, ‘Edena’ sees the artist diving into the dubstep depths, turning out four tracks that channel the speaker-shaking sub bass wobbles of UK soundsystem culture, peppering them with shuffling percussion and velvety jazz textures. The experiment pays off, with War’s productions hitting a striking stride between rowdy bass weight and trippy elegance.
