CARL COX RECORDS ESSENTIAL MIX LIVE AT SPACE IBIZA

Listen to two hours of unadulterated Coxy techno here...

This September will see the end of an era for Ibiza techno, as legendary nightclub Space closes its doors for the last time, and with it, veteran UK DJ Carl Cox sees out the 15th and final season of is Music Is Revolution parties.

With ownership being handed over to Ushuaïa Group, Space's future will undoubtedly look very different to its past 27 years, and the forthcoming closure is naturally a sad time for any techno fan. But fear not — BBC Radio 1 are on the case! The station has released a "extra special bonus Essential Mix", recorded live at Space by Coxy himself.

"For me, it’s been just amazing," says Coxy, introducing the mix, "the club isn’t broken, it doesn’t need to be fixed in any way, shape or form, we’re just basically finishing it off in fine style. It’s been a really big part of my life, being a resident here. I’ve think I’ve been here in Ibiza more than I’ve been at home. I’ve spent more nights here than anywhere else in the world.”

If you can't make it out to Ibiza this season, make sure you tune into this little piece of dance music history. Find two spare hours, turn off your phone, crank up your system and bid Music Is Revolution a fond farewell...
