Estonia’s unda festival announces Call Super, Elijah, object blue, more

A new festival will take place in Southern Estonia later this year.

Located at the Estonian National Museum in the city of Tartu, the inaugural edition of unda festival will include talks and exhibits from artists and writers, as well as wide range of DJs.

Taking place from19th to 22nd September, unda will unfold during the autumn equinox, representing the balance between day and night, as well as light and dark. The event is part of Tartu's European Capital of Culture’s “Arts of Survival” program, with the city holding the distinction of being the oldest in the Baltic region.

Confirmed acts on the bill include Call Super, Elijah, object blue, DJ Marcelle and Akimat. They’ll join DJ and writer Irvine Welsh, author of Trainspotting, Dimitri Hegemann, the founder of Berlin club Tresor, writer and DJ Yewande Adeniran (also known as Ifeoluwa), and Emma Warren, author of Dance Your Way Home.

The festival is launched in partnership with Tresor, which will curate its own stage. unda is also set to host a showcase on 28 and 29th June at the Berlin club OMH as part of this partnership, the full line-up for this two-day showcase is expected to be revealed in May. 

“Our line-up is a true testament to the overriding influences of club culture on society,” an Instagram post from the festival reads.

According to the festival’s website: “unda aims to reshape the view of clubs by highlighting their vital cultural function as gathering areas and cooperation zones, where fresh concepts, identities, vocational options, and experimentation can materialize.”
