The Prodigy original member Leeroy Thornhill announces memoir, Wildfire

Leeroy Thornhill, the DJ, dancer and electronic musician who spent ten years as a member of The Prodigy, has announced a memoir.

Wildfire: My Ten Years Getting High in The Prodigy will document Thornhill’s experiences as a formative member of the group in their first decade, spanning from 1990 to 2000.

The memoir will also feature previously unseen photography, chronicling the group’s early raves up to shows in the late '90s, by which point the band had become one of the biggest on the planet.

Speaking on the new book, Thornhill said: “Wildfire shares personal images and memories from the first 10 years of the rise of The Prodigy. An unparalleled energy that rapidly spread across the globe intoxicating crowds with its unique sound and live show.

“Time waits for no man, and with a blink of an eye 30-plus years have passed. My time with the band still feels like only yesterday, A musical journey I am proud to have been part of, the highs are imprinted in my soul. Live life, believe, know your ledge, make it happen.”

Thornhill has stayed in music in the years since, recording under the names Longman and Flightcrank and still DJing regularly to this day.

Back in March, Liam Howlett and Maxim paid tribute to their "unfadeable" "brother" Keith Flint on the fifth anniversary of his death in 2019. Last year, Maxim revealed that he burnt his art collection “like a bonfire” after hearing about Flint’s death.

In other Prodigy news, the rave band was seen to change the lyrics to their 1997 hit ‘Smack My Bitch Up’ during a string of live shows. Despite being one of their most celebrated tracks, the lyrics have sparked backlash and were branded by some as condoning violence against women.

Wildfire is set to be published 12th September via White Rabbit available in hardback, ebook and limited edition formats. You can pre-order a copy here.
