UNSOUND KRAKOW REVEALS ITS DAY PROGRAMME

As well as boasting a load of DJs and producers (with 50% more to be announced at the festival as part of their 'surprise' theme), Krakow’s Unsound is also a hotbed of daytime activity, with lectures and workshops scheduled for this year’s edition of the elusive event.

The Polish festival has just announced DJ Richard as an addition — who’ll be playing a unique experimental/ambient DJ set in the Wieliczka salt mine - along with the complete discussion-led day programme.

This consists of artist talks from Charles Cohen and Rabih Beaini (on improvisation), Poland’s Pawel Kulczynski AKA Wilhelm Bras, Laraaji, Elysia Crampton (on landscape, place and history), an RA exchange with UNiiQU3, and Gram[m]ofon chatting with Zenker Brothers and Jacek Sienkiewicz while playing some of their favourite records.

Not only that, but author Owen Hatherley will give a talk on his new book ‘Landscapes of Communism’, which focuses on Eastern European architecture, while Mat Dryhurst is to give a presentation on Saga — a tool he’s created that allows artists to take control of spaces where their work is shared online. Adam Harper will be asking whether “digital accelerationism is a good thing for the underground”.

In addition, there’ll be discussion panels on the disappearance of Polish music journalism, and if it’s still possible to shock using performance and record sleeve art. Repeater Books are hosting a series of discussions on race, club culture and identity.
