NEW VENUE PRINTWORKS ANNOUNCED FOR LONDON

Multi-purpose space scheduled to open January 2017...

What a week for London culture! Following the news that Fabric will reopen, it has been announced that a new 5000-capacity venue will open in the capital early next year.

Named Printworks London, the multi-room, multi-purpose "experimental" space is housed in a disused industrial printing press in the docklands area — fans of Secret Cinema will recognise it from the Star Wars and 28 Days Later editions.

Across its six areas — which include the 100-metre-long Press Halls — Printworks will host a variety of cultural events, covering music, fashion, film, food and more, while keeping many of the original industrial features intact to create a unique atmosphere.

Speaking to DJ Mag, Will Harlod of LWE (Tobacco Dock/Junction 2 organisers and co-promoters at Printworks alongside Broadwick Live and operators The Vibration Group), explains that by being multi-purpose the space will avoid many of the licencing difficulties and financial pressures faced by venues in the current climate.

"We might be a little bit bonkers taking it on but it's too exciting not to," he continues. "You know it's a good space when you're in there and you're completely transported away from everyday life, and I really get that with the Printworks. You go up the steps into the Press Halls and it's like you've walked into another dimension."
