Lewis James drops a futuristic Fresh Kicks mix: Listen

Lewis James is making waves in the world of weird and wonderful, underground drum & bass right now, so we thought it high time we put him to the test for our Fresh Kicks series.

Utilising his background in sound design, the Dublin producer is putting a fresh spin on the half-time sub-genre. His recent work for the likes of Lowriders Recordings (the four-track 'Megacholy' EP), and a contribution to Astrophonica's debut compilation 'Gradients', have been gnarly and raw, but at the same time futuristic, cinematic and possessing an irresistable funk.

Lewis' Fresh Kicks offering is similarly styled; crammed with "as much exclusive and unheard material" as he could squeeze in, the mix presents a host of his own twisted productions, plus tracks from some of the most exciting producers in the game right now, including Moresounds, Kid Drama, Om Unit and Sam Binga, Fracture, and Itoa.
