PREMIERE: KILL PARIS REMIXES FLUX PAVILION

Take a cruise on this ‘Freeway’

Flux Pavilion is following his November 2013-released Freeway EP with a hefty remix package. The UK bass producer is looking to his “favorite guys in the scene” to put new perspective to his work, starting with a remix of the title track by OWSLA affiliate Kill The Noise and the Circus label boss himself.

Also putting his spin on “Freeway” is Colorado producer Corey Baker, aka Kill Paris. Where the original track shows a somewhat stripped-down, softer side to the producer – who is known more for him abrasive, bass-barraging beats – Kill Paris takes the mellow one level higher with a remix made for highway cruising.

Easing into the track with an airy introduction, Kill Paris keeps the focus on the enveloping vocals as the melody eventually swells into a half-time head-nodder that fits somewhere in the space between drum n bass and the producer's associated "future funk" sound. It evokes images of coasting on the PCH with the top down and hair blown back by the wind, as stretched vocal samples peel away from the main action, making for an emotive hold on the last traces of a fading summer.

Check out Kill Paris' remix of Flux Pavilion's "Freeway" below and look out for the Freeway Remixes EP, out on Circus/Big Beat October 6.
