Electro, house, d&b, psy-trance… Brazil's vibrant scene has embraced every shade of electronic music imaginable but if one sound sums up the Brazilian spirit best then that sound is surely techno. Make no mistake; Clash Club is the nation's finest no-nonsense techno club.

The brainchild of the Circuito crew who have long been responsible for Sao Paulo's biggest techno raves, Clash Club, on Rua Barra Funda, is a huge, high-ceilinged warehouse that screams rave from every inch of its cavernous main room.

The new kid on the city's competitive clubbing block, Clash has become synonymous with quality underground techno of the highest order as names like Vitalic, Dave Clarke, Adam Beyer, Laurent Garnier, Chris Liebing and Valentino Kanzyani touch down weekly at the electric venue.

Opening just a stone's throw from the famous D-Edge club might have seemed like a bold move but in just two years Clash has carved its own following. Not to mention securing an unbeatable team of home residents - techno veteran Renato Cohen, Kompakt's Gui Boratto and the Brazil scene's forefather Anderson Noise are all residents, whilst Brazilian d&b legend Marky hosts his Marky & Friends night there bi-monthly.

And with both D-Edge and Clash packed each week, the twin success of the two venues only highlights the hunger for music within the buzzin' Sao Paulo scene.

"Anyone who doesn't like the Brazilian scene must have something wrong in the head," jokes Clash Club fan Umek. "The scene is filled with temperament and energy. Clash Club is the perfect expression of it all. It is roomy with high ceilings so you get that real big room feel but the energy is always intense. It really is the perfect techno club and I can't wait to get back there."
