Zouk Singapore
2

Given the relatively impoverished scope of Singapore's club scene, it would be easy to call Zouk the big fish in small pond. But it'd also be wrong. A genuine world-beater, the lavishly decorated and futuristically fitted Zouk has been the jewel in Asia's clubbing scene ever since it opened in 1991 and is constantly pushing its own boundaries; its LED lighting systems, subtle Mediterranean touches and enveloping soundsystem would be the talk of any metropolis on the planet.

Miss Kitten exclaims that "Zouk is such an institution" while Paul Van Dyk says "Zouk is one of the best clubs in the world and if you have been there, you'll know how intense and energetic the crowd is."

Almost single-handedly responsible for laying the dance music foundations in Singapore, Zouk circa 2010 persists as a venue driven by deep, genuine and long-standing love for dance music's inclusive ideals; as summed up by its motto "one world, one tribe, one dance."

So while much of the subsequent clubbing investment in Singapore and other parts of Asia has been motivated by a desire to callously cash in on the region's burgeoning love of dance music, Zouk is still the real deal; a proper underground clubbing emporium where DJs like Sven Väth, Prins Thomas, 2Many Djs, Dixon, Danny Howells, Ricardo Villalobos are the norm and clubbers are as enthusiastic as anyone on the planet.
