Sebastian Ingrosso

Despite his place pretty much atop the pile of house music superstars in 2011, Sebastian Ingrosso is both humbled and humble when DJmag catches up with him.
“It's an honour to be in this poll again,” says one third of the Swedish House Mafia. “Every achievement like this is an honour, but it's also important to respect a lot of the exceptional talents who are not featured.”
Given the year he's had alongside his Swedish comrades, it's a wonder the man has any time to think outside his own world. There have been hundreds of gigs in most major cities on the planet, residencies in Ibiza, chart-topping smashes as SHM, but also plenty of solo projects for Ingrosso.
“I produce alone all the time, but often I work with Alesso. Not just on tracks we do together, but on his whole management... It's the same with a new girl I am working with called Lune,” he enthuses. “I've been busy working on and nurturing new talent all year; helping to spread the love, and have really enjoyed it.”
Those productions include a track for Kylie, no less, namely 'Cupid Boy', whilst Seb cites other highlights from the last year as the Masquerade Motel Miami events (“we tried to build the show we had in our heads that we felt fans deserved, and it worked!”). However, all those probably pale into insignificance, given the fact the man also became a husband and father for the first time in 2011.
Expect plenty more Ingrosso solo material as well as an album from the talent he's busy nurturing, Alessso, in 2012. He'll also be busy producing for “some big names in America” and continue to evolve his Refune label, with big plans afoot for the New Year. Also, and because as he says, “variety is the spice of life”, fans should keep their eyes peeled for some brand new SHM material in the months ahead...
