Calvin Harris is a hit machine. More than any other Top 100 DJs artist, save perhaps David Guetta, he straddles the worlds of pop and dance music, churning out chart-toppers as if it were as natural as breathing. 2023 alone has seen him top various international lists with ‘Miracle’. The track, which is the third best-selling single of the year in the UK, features long-time collaborator Ellie Goulding singing over a piano-licked trance instrumental that harks back to the genre’s glory days around the turn of the millennium.

In July, Harris once again teamed up with Sam Smith, tapping into a retro Eurotrance sound that’s already been doing serious numbers (over 115 million streams globally at the time of writing). The track landed during Calvin’s summer-long Ushuaïa Ibiza residency, which saw him partner with MK to play the open-air superclub every Friday, welcoming guests such as Ewan McVicar, HoneyLuv, Ben Hemsley, and fellow Scots chart-toppers LF System. Regularly touted as the world’s highest-paid DJ (though this is based on the total annual income from his various exploits rather than fees for individual sets), his production prowess and skill with the wheels of steel have also seen him play festivals like Coachella and Creamfields this year.
