Poll 2023: MORTEN
90
MORTEN
34

From: Denmark

DJ style: “Energetic.”

Best known for: “Future Rave.”

It’s amazing to think this is only the third time Morten has appeared in the Top 100 DJs chart. Denmark’s Future Rave originator debuted at No.39 in our 2021 poll, but has been on the scene for well over a decade and a half already. Status exploding across the globe in recent times, bookings for 2023 are taking him from Dubai and Saudi Arabia to China and Croatia, although summer was defined by that benchmark-setting residency at Hï Ibiza. Sharing honours with regular studio partner David Guetta, it’s among the most in-demand parties to run on the White Island over the past two seasons.

This year their weekly began shortly after a sold-out Brooklyn Mirage show, and around the same time the pair put out the single ‘Something To Hold On To’. In doing so they confirmed their place as the central figureheads of an emerging sound marrying elements of progressive, house, trance, hardcore and EDM, which MORTEN has previously described as “limitless”. Just as atmospheric yet club-ready are the tunes ‘All In’ with Theresa Rex, ‘Lost In The Rhythm’ and ‘Unforgettable’ — tracks made for the kind of high specification venues and jaw-dropping production levels Morten has grown used to.
