Best known for:  Impeccable command of the dancefloor, his limitless energy and ever-present smile.

A true legend of our time, Carl Cox still provides the energy and passion behind the decks that he did when he started out in the 1980s. A pioneer, and a non-stop champion of dance music, he’s a DJ that has never left the Top 100 DJs list — and for good reason. With no signs of slowing down, this year his touring schedule has once again taken him across the world to headline at some of the most iconic places on the map. “Where do I start? I’ve played at amazing venues all across the world including The Pyramids in Cairo and Central Park New York, as well as lots of clubs and festivals. We braved the rain for my Brighton Beach show and then really braced the rain at Burning Man,” Cox tells DJ Mag. “I’ve released records that I’ve written and produced, and remixed some great tracks for other artists. I’ve been busy on the track with my drag car and also getting behind my Extreme E team. I’ve toured Europe and the USA and am about to go to South America before my NYE show in Australia,” he says. Cox continues to broaden the catalogue of his label Awesome Soundwave, with recent releases from Stimming, Robert Babicz and Marc Romboy. There’s no stopping Coxy: a shining star in our industry.

Hero of 2023: “Elton John, I saw him at Glastonbury playing his last show in the UK, and it really was something special. His music done his way will live on forever.”

What was the most exciting tech development of 2023? “It’s hard to pick just one thing.”

Rising star DJ/producer of 2023: "Chloe Caillet is super talented, I could listen to her electronic music all day and night.”

What gives you hope for 2024? “The same as every year — I believe in people and that we continue to come together as one, sharing our love of music and sharing the love that this brings.”
